Drive Performance

Today our speaker was Eric Maleski, one of the instructors at Drive Performance in Wheeling, Illinois. He told us about the training of Chicago Cubs, and other professional and amateur baseball players to hit baseballs.

The training is called iTrac Vision Training which utilizes colored and numbered tennis balls traveling at speeds up to 130 mph. By training a hitter to observe balls traveling at this speed, the 90mph speed of a Major League fast ball seems slow when the batter is standing in the batter’s box ready to take a swing. A testimony of the effectiveness of this training was made by Rookie of the Year and former student Evan Longoria in a video Eric brought with him.

This training, as well as other aspects of playing baseball with hardballs and softballs, is available to players of all ages. Other aspects include pitching, fielding and catching.

This training is done year round and indoors.
