Club Announcements

President Ron Crawford told us of Bill Gates' announcement about a $255 million contribution to help eradicate polio, with Rotary International again matching part of that contribution. Ron said our club is a leader in the district in fulfilling our pledge commitment, and that those folks running in the Santa suits next year will help us achieve that goal.

Have an extra suit case to give for a worthy cause? Give Ron a call (847-670-9071). Club members going to Guatemala soon take an extra suitcase with used, clean clothes to give away – something very much appreciated there. Linda Borton, NW Community Hospital, Ron and his wife, Diane, will be participating.

Great news about our Shelter Box contribution – one of the three from our club is now in use in a valley in Pakistan. The cold weather, after shocks and destruction from last fall’s earthquake make the winterized tents and supplies a real life saver.

Grandkids are great – in this case not only for Bob Morman, but also for the club. Samantha took club data and made a membership phone and contact list sheet. This is great not only for those of us who aren’t “digitally” organized, but also those whose digits get in the way of using the electronics quickly. If you want one, let Bob, Chris Stabler or Lynn Jensen know. Thank you, Samantha.

Lew O’Donnell told us of an award in Ken Hood’s name given by the Arlington Senior Center. As most of us will recall, Ken was a 100-year-old member, active in the club for many years, and very active in the senior community. If you know of someone who has or is serving the senior community, consider contacting Lou or the Senior Center, 847-368-5750.
