December 3, 2009 Happenings & Announcements
Club AnnouncementsJim Bertucci passed around the updated list of our Rotary “Classifications”. If you don’t remember yours, have a preference, or feel it should be corrected, please contact Jim. Our thanks go to Jim and others who have worked on this project with the intent to remind us of the make up of our member, and to help us seek out and retaining new members. As Governor Bill and others have said, “Membership in Rotary is an honor!” One of the benefits of membership in Rotary is that the clubs reflect the diverse and influential segments of our community. A diverse club can be a great resource for conversation, friendship, and problem-solving action for service to our community, near and far.
Want a chance to Howl? Join the District outing to the Chicago Wolves Hockey game Sunday, February 28, 3 PM. It’s affordable and local. Check the District Website or contact Tim Corrigan.
Fine Masters Corner
Donations for two weeks go the Wellington’s accommodating wait staff. And on the topic of meals, Kris Stabler and Jon Ridler are recognized for their extra efforts in the Thanksgiving Meals program through the Chamber and Arlington Park.
Bob Morman shared his joy in announcing his wife Joanne’s neck brace has been removed! We’re happy for them both. She wore it so stylishly, some of us didn’t notice anything amiss! And another long-time club member, Curley Nebel, was $50 happy to announce he and June’s 64th wedding anniversary. Rick Koebernick thinks he’s happy about his kids turning 18 – good thing Rick is in the auto repair business! Linda Borton was very pleased to remind us that Northwest Community Hospital turned 50 (we think she said they got new bed pans, too, along with that great new building!). And Deb Whisler was happy about a fine Rotary check presentation photo in the great local newspaper.
The quiz included 1. The name of the only moving national monument, 2. The original color of Coca Cola, and 3. The ranking of U.S. literacy. (?1. the San Francisco cable cars; 2. Green!, and 3. though high as a percentage, it’s 55th in the world!?).
