At the club’s November 13th meeting, Pam Kerr, District 6440 Governor, spoke to us about her first challenge as District Governor.

Prior to her inauguration, the Rotary International President D.K. Lee, personally called her and asked her to start and all Asian club in District 6440. Undaunted, she brought the idea to her membership chair Carlos Frum who picked up the challenge and ran with it.

Before the end of her second month as District Governor, the all Korean Rotary Club of Chicagoland Korean – Northbrook was chartered on August 22 with over 60 members. D.K. Lee personally addressed the attendees at the Charter Night. His address can be found at rotary6440.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html.

D.K. Lee’s goal is to increase membership in Rotary worldwide by 10%. So far, the District’s membership is up a net 46 members which has been mostly accomplished by the newly chartered club.

D.K. Lee also wants to focus on eliminating 30,000 deaths worldwide of children 0-5 years old succumbing to preventable diseases and accidents. To facilitate this he is asking each club to contribute $1000 per year to eradicate polio now.
