Fine Master's Corner: June 25th Meeting
Fine Master Terry Ennes reported that fines will go to the Finnerty Family, as did last week’s. In this spirit of giving, happy fines included President Ron celebrating his son’s wedding last Saturday. Linda Borton expressed thanks to the club member who stepped up to introduce Book Scholar last week (if memory serves, it was Sue Duchek). Bill Kmiecik was a much-satisfied Santa for having been awarded Rotarian of the Year (We thought we heard him say, “This is even better than milk and cookies!”). Jim Bertucci expressed appreciation for Ron Crawford’s efforts. Arlington Park and Northwest Community Hospital were thanked for becoming sponsors of the Santa Run.
With all that happiness, was the quiz needed? Yes, for a good cause...and we learned something, too, from Terry’s intriguing questions. Could you name the 14 punctuation marks in the English language? Maybe so, but what is the difference between a dash and a hyphen? How do whole pears get in those pear brandy bottles? Ask Terry for the surprising story.
